How to Increase your Chances for Higher Search Engine Positioning (Non-PPC)

The do's and don't of creating your web site.

The fastest way to get LOW search engine positioning is to have the following on your home page.

In general, search engines cannot see content that is presented in the following file formats:

- images (GIF, JPEG, PNG, etc.)
- Flash movies, flash banners, etc.
- JavaScript and other script languages
- other multimedia file formats

You should also try NOT to:

- Use automatic site submission services like TrafficBoost
- Re-register your website more than once per month
- Use doorway or hallway pages incorrectly
- Use Frames within your site

A few things you CAN DO in order to get a good positioning:

- Although many search engines are not using META TAGS for spidering web sites as much as they used to, you should still have the proper Title and TAGS appropriately affixed to the Header of your web page.
- Include keywords in the Title and META TAGS in each page of the web site
- Use the H1 (Heading Tag) to include your key words
- Use Alt Tags on images
- Use text within each page of your site
- Use keywords within your navigation
- Use keywords to label sub-directories
- Link your web site to as many other relevant web sites as possible

Each search engine looks at information differently. Some will look at the keywords, yet some look only at other site content. Search engine algorithms are constantly changing, which means that if you figured out how to get to the top today…it may be totally different tomorrow.
